How to spend New Year’s in Venice

There are things that at least once in your life, should be done. One of these things is to pass New Year’s in Venice. If in fact you have plans to spend time in Venice then why not choose the time of year that marks the beginning of a new one? But the reasons for visiting Venice during these days aren’t just astrological reasons. 

There will be many who decide to take advantage of the winter atmosphere and celebrate the New Year. Imagine a delicious and romantic dinner, a night stroll in Venetian Palaces, or even better a touching show of fireworks right in front of the Doge’s Palace. So here are things you can do to celebrate New Year’s in Venice.

 

Pop open a Bottle of Prosecco in S.Marco

It’s not Times Square, of course but Piazza San Marco is a perfect stage to reunite and await midnight the 31st of December. Venetians and people from all over the world come to the largest piazza in the city to celebrate together with fireworks and rounds of drinks. (Remember to discard bottles and plastic cups in the indicated trash bins).

 

New Year’s Concert at the Fenice

The New Year’s concert at the Fenice opera House has become a can’t miss. A historical event in Venice that celebrates the upcoming year with a concert directed every year  by a great composer. This year it will be James Conlon that will direct the Orchestra Coro of the Fenice Theatre, proposing a total of 3 concerts to celebrate 2016 with music. The New Year’s 2016 Concert will be held at the Fenice Theatre the 30th of December from 5 p.m., the 31st of December at 4 p.m. and the 1st of January at 11:15 a.m.

 

New Years for the Winter Lovers

Do you love the cold? What do you think about a dive in the Adriatic sea at dawn for the first day of the year? Even this is a lagoon tradition. Every first day of the year of January in fact, an indestructible group of winter lovers inaugurate the beach season of Lido Venice with a splash in the freezing sea to bring in the New Year.
